The idiom “elephant in the room” can be viewed in two ways, either as a problem that is ignored or a person that causes a problem. Whichever way it’s taken, it should be addressed properly. Sweeping them under the rug or pretending they do not exist only compounds the problem. Sooner or later, they will surface when it will be too late to correct or control the harm they may cause. The wiser option, to deal with the “elephant,” is to act as soon as it’s detected in order to prevent it from gaining strength.
