How Whales Change The Climate

A Trophic Cascade is an ecological process starting at the top of the food chain which tumbles down to the very bottom. The leaders of the ecological system, the whales of the ocean in this case, affect the whole eco-system and even its very ability to thrive or survive.

This is exactly the same process that occurs in the eco-system of a company. The leadership at the top affect the whole system and the company’s ability to perform.

Leadership behavior is determined by their character and consciousness. Transformational thinking leads to transformational leadership whereas transactional thinking, well, we all know what that leads to if fixated upon.

“When we try to pick out anything by itself, we find it hitched to everything else in the Universe.”
– John Muir

The top of the food chain ecologically is the human being. It is our behavior that has the greatest influence on the Eco-system.

We kill whales, heat our homes with coal, eat meat every day and drive around in our cars, the effect being global warming. To change our behavior we have to change our way of thinking and that is our responsibility.

As a leader of a company, organization, or even a family, are you ready and willing to evolve and change?
