Fulfillment or Regrets? It’s in Your Hands Today

Timothy’s Thought for Thursday:

During the first week of 2015, we lost our beautiful Jack Russell dog, Floppy. It happened very quickly, in less than 12 hours she was gone. She loved unconditionally, was loyal, trustworthy and full of joy (now I know why “Dog” spelled backwards is “God”). We lost a family member that we valued so much. I didn’t realize how much we valued her until she was gone. The next moment is not guaranteed. We are only one heartbeat away from it all ending. As the poet Mary Oliver wrote…

“Tell me, what is it that you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?”

Regrets or Fulfillment by Timothy Carroll

We must take the time to contemplate what it is that really matters to us before it is too late. What are you here for? Have you found that yet? Do you spend enough time with the people that matter to you the most or are you caught up in the thick of thin things? Hopefully, years from now, you want to have no regrets when your end is nigh. On that day, what will you wish that you had decided to do with your life today, one this day? I suggest that you take the time to contemplate this question, in a quiet place, and find the answer. Then act on it immediately, take the first step immediately, there’s no more time to waste!

Insight:

“Life is no brief candle to me. It is a sort of splendor which I have got hold of for the moment, and I want to make it burn as brightly as possible before handling it on to future generations.” – George Bernard Shaw
